At Manchester Occupational Therapy Services we provide an adult service to assess and treat dysfunction to promote independence. We work holistically across a range of conditions including brain injuries, executive dysfunction, cerebral palsy, stroke, spinal injuries and orthopaedic injuries.
Within this adult service we can complete standardised and non-standardised assessments of the condition, ADLs, cognition, function etc, we will then compile a report which will inform treatment. Intervention can include a number of aspects such as:
- Skill acquisitions
- Social skills training
- Community integration
- Confidence building
- Support worker/family training
- Writing support plans
- Compensatory aids
- Equipment provision
- Developing daily/weekly structure
- Constrain Induced Movement Therapy
- Improving upper limb function
- Cognitive training
With benefits now changing from DLA to Personal Independence Payments (PIP), everyone who is on DLA will soon have to apply for PIP, this can be a confusing and stressful process; Manchester Occupational Therapy Services are able to offer support in completing this application and can support the person if they are asked to attend an assessment. For more information about PIP, please see the link below:

Manchester Occupational Therapy Services have a vast array of experience in working with clients through the medico-legal process. We work closely with case managers, solicitors, barristers, expert witnesses, MDTs and financial deputies. We understand that this is a stressful time for the client and therefore work with the client with a degree of empathy but endeavour to ensure the client gets the most out of this intense rehabilitation process.
